August 13, 2007 Dear Parents, In order to make the afternoon dismissal of students safer, we appreciate your cooperation in the following traffic pattern. Fifth, seventh, and eighth grade cars will be pulled up in rows in the back parking lot. Sixth grade cars will be pulled up in two rows to the end of the field house, directly in front of Cumberland Street. Sixth grade car riders will be dismissed from the gym. While construction is still taking place, the 7th and 8th grades will also exit through the gym. Upon completion of construction, 7th and 8th will exit through the center hall by the cafeteria. When all cars are parked, a whistle will blow to indicate students may go to their cars. Because it is difficult for students to see all cars, please get out and stand by your car and motion for your child. Once all cars are loaded in each of these areas, 6th grade will exit right onto Cumberland. All other rows will be dismissed one row at a time and exit onto Cumberland. As rows are dismissed, other cars will be directed to pull in to the gravel area. Once the entire area is filled, the whistle blows again and students load cars as before. At no time will any student be allowed to travel in the gravel area while traffic is moving. PLEASE DO NOT STOP WHILE TRAFFIC IS MOVING AND MOTION FOR YOUR STUDENT TO COME TO YOUR CAR. This is for the safety of all students. Older sibling(s) will ride with younger sibling(s). Please instruct your child to come with the younger sibling. Also, be sure to call the school office if your child will be a car rider so that he/she can be notified in the afternoon announcements. Please do not ask one of the school personnel working in the parking lot area to call the office. Due to the heavy traffic, this is virtually impossible to do. After 3:00, all car riders will be dismissed at the front of the school. Please do not pull around other cars to leave early. Wait until you are signaled to leave. The safety of your child is of utmost importance. We do not want any child to be put in danger because you are not following the traffic pattern. All car riders are to be dropped off each morning in the back parking area. The front is reserved for buses. The back parking lot is a designated ONE WAY enter and exit at all times. Please observe this so that students and staff are not in danger. We appreciate your cooperation and patience in this matter. It will get better! Thank you, Kim R. Headrick, Principal
