Monteagle Elementary Curriculum

Monteagle Elementary School is a Pre-K through eighth grade school. We take pride in our comprehensive curriculum. Grades PK-4 are self contained classrooms. Grades 5-8 are departmentalized. In the lower grades special education students are included in the classroom for academics through our inclusion program of instruction. An assistant is in the classroom to help the teachers differentiate instruction for these students.

The new Tennessee State Standards are supported by Harcourt Reading, Saxon Math, Glencoe-McGraw-Hill Science in grades 5-8, Science Kits are used in grades 1,2, and 3. McGraw-Hill Social Studies for 1-8, and Saxon Phonics in K and 1. We also use AIMS WEB for progress monitoring in K-3. We use Accelerated Reader and Brain Pop to enhance our reading and math skills in the computer lab.

In addition to the core subjects, a related arts program consisting of art, library, physical education, computer lab, and guidance is provided to MES students. These classes are attended by students once a week. Students in grades 5, 7, and 8 also are presented with the DARE intervention program. A health curriculum is also being implemented with the Michigan Model for grades 1-8.

An after school program of remediation and enrichment is provided 3-4 days per week through the utilization of extended contract monies.
