The Chairman and Director of schools jointly prepares agenda items for regular scheduled Board meetings and special called meetings. The chairman chairs these meetings for the Board to approve or disapprove items on the agenda. In addition to this, the Chairman in conjunction with other Board members provides over-sight for other school functions. Also, the chairman participates in the preparation of the yearly school budget for final approval by the School Board.

Mr. Poston is a graduate of the University of Tennessee Knoxville with a BSME (Mechanical Engineer). He is retired from both TVA after almost 34 years with the agency and almost 5 years with the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.

Most of Mr. Poston's entire working experience was in the field of Electrical Power generation with TVA. However, he did work for NASA in the 60's at Cape Kennedy, Florida in Base Operations. He also worked at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga as the Director of Facilities.
