School Nutrition Program Information:

The Marion County School system adheres to a traditional, food-based breakfast and lunch menu. The four-week cycle menu offers all five required items:

  • One serving of Meat/Meat Alternate
  • Milk
  • Grain/Bread
  • Two servings of Vegetables/Fruits

Although students have the option to decline item(s), a complete meal is encouraged. Each school has the option to offer additional items to the cycle menu.

Each school has a manager who is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the cafeteria. The School Nutrition Program is self-supporting and uses a software program, Positive Touch, for cash collection at each school. Students are assigned an individual account number, which allows them to access their account by entering their number on a keypad. It works much like a bank account--students deposit money into their account and when meals are purchased, the amount is deducted from their account. Pre-payments are appreciated, but single purchases are also welcomed. Individual account information is available from the cafeteria managers at each school.
